The Bill (Reg. No. 3066) secures equal right of women and men with HIV/AIDS-infected children under 16, or persons who substitute them, for an annual leave in summer or any other suitable for them time.
Thus, Article 22 of the effective Law envisages such a right only for mothers of such children. Only in case a mother is absent or a child is being brought up by a father or other person, this right is transferred to relevant persons. According to the People´s Deputies, in contradicts the Law "On Provision of Equal Rights and Opportunities of Women and Men", and the Family Code of Ukraine.
The Committee members believe that adoption of relevant amendments will eliminate discrepancies and promote equal participation of mother and father in upbringing of HIV/AIDS-infected children.
